In this age of globalization, as nationalistic character traits are dissolved into a homogenous multiculturalism, I find myself struggling with a profound loss of identity. I feel disconnected from my ancestors and heritage, and yet
I sense their presence deep within me.
In an effort to recover what has vanished from a generation whose customs have been obscured in the process of cultural integration, I went on a journey to bridge the gap between my past and my present in the hope of shedding light on the path to my future.
My piece is an effort to give visual form to this sense of loss and ultimately stimulate contemplation from viewers on their own obscured past. I believe my personal story will tell a truth of our times.
