MAtwo minute film As a concept in Japanese aesthetics, Ma is a meaningful void, a sensory and sensual space that gives shape to the whole.
My work intends to demonstrate and utilize this philosophy by punctuating the climax of both the visual and musical piece with a silence whose absence is its presence.
The musical piece, "Homage to Satie" was composed by Richard Saba specifically for the film, and the quote is from the poem, "Silence" by Marianne Moore.
